Our Mission

At The Olive Daycare Center, we are dedicated to fostering the health, safety, and overall well-being of the children in our care. We believe that when nurtured in a supportive environment, children thrive, gaining strength, knowledge, and understanding. We recognize the vital role of exploration, curiosity, and inquiry in the learning process, and we are committed to creating a constructive, positive, and caring environment that supports each child's educational and developmental journey. Our goal is to cultivate positive, professional relationships within the community, ensuring a collaborative approach to growth and learning.

Christian Atmosphere

At The Olive Daycare Center, we believe that the staff, parents/guardians, and children all play essential roles in fostering a respectful and diverse community. Our Christian faith serves as the foundation of our values, guiding us to create an environment where every individual contributes to building a positive, nurturing atmosphere that supports early childhood development and learning.

Our Story

The Olive Daycare Center began as a vision in early 2016 and has since grown tremendously. Founder Jenny Osawe, a recent graduate of the Early Childhood Education Diploma Program at Conestoga College, had just been hired by the Montessori School of Guelph Wellington when she conceived the idea for the center.

In early 2017, Jenny developed a detailed plan for The Olive Daycare Center, engaged with key financial and community stakeholders, and brought the vision to life. Within two years, The Olive transformed from a concept to a licensed, sole-proprietorship daycare, though it had not yet reached its final form.

In August 2019, The Olive was officially recognized as a not-for-profit organization, allowing it to better serve the community. A board of directors was appointed to assist Jenny with both day-to-day and financial operations, as well as to support outreach and community engagement efforts.

We are dedicated to fostering and supporting the following commitments:

  • Providing a high-quality care program that meets the unique needs of each child.

  • Creating an environment that promotes accessibility, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all families.

  • Ensuring a safe, supportive, and positive learning space for the community.

  • Laying the foundation for lifelong learning through compassionate guidance rooted in Christian faith-based education.
